Here in our journal space, we share some of the things we love, the experiences we remember and everything you need to feel inspired by our wild world. From reading about why Peonies are one of our favourite flowers, to hearing about a recent day out at a new local hotel, enjoy our stories here.

How to choose the right flowers for a funeral

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

At times of sadness and loss, flowers can bring a little bit of comfort. Here at wild about flowers, with over 25 years of experience, our team of professional florists are dedicated to curating meaningful and fitting memorial flower arrangements for you and your loved ones and are here to help you with that process.

Losing a loved one is never easy, and arranging a funeral can be a stressful and emotional experience. One of the important decisions that you will need to make when planning a funeral is choosing the flowers. Funeral flowers are a beautiful way to pay tribute to your loved one and offer comfort to those who are grieving.

When looking for funeral flowers in Bristol, wild about flowers can help make with this process. Our family-run business provides personalised and thoughtful funeral flower arrangements. Here are some helpful ways we can help you choose the right flowers for a funeral:

The Meaning of Flowers

Different types of flowers can have different meanings, and this may be a symbolic option you'd like to choose. Roses can be a popular and classic choice for funerals, with red roses symbolising love and white roses symbolising purity and innocence. You may choose your loved ones favourite flower or something that grew in their garden. Thinking about flowers that may have a deeper representation may be a suitable option. We grow rosemary in our wild about flowers garden which is a symbol of remembrance and we will often be asked to include this in tributes.

Think about personality

When choosing funeral flowers, considering the personality of the deceased can be a helpful starting point. Were they outgoing and colourful? Did they have a favourite football team that was a big part of their life? Did they have a colour that they loved to wear? We've been humbled to create fitting tributes for people over the years from including vegetables from allotments of keen gardeners to emblems of a rugby team for a devoted player.

Consider the season

The season can also be helpful to think about when choosing the right flowers. Our team of florists will be able to help advise on seasonal options to give you the best availability for your chosen blooms. It is sometimes possible for us to source flowers out of season if a flower is particularly symbolic and desired for the tribute. We will always work closely with our suppliers to offer you the best recommendations to suit.

Booking an appointment We understand that choosing funeral flowers can be a sensitive time and many may prefer privacy when discussion your requirements. We are able to offer private appointments in the comfort of our floral home where we can sit with you and offer our dedicated time and expertise to help you choose the right tributes.
